Over the weekend, Signal began displaying all of the tell-tale signs of a growth spurt. More eating, more sleeping. But seriously. A growth spurt? It is possible that our 30 inch, 22 pound boy is going to get even bigger? Yes, I suppose it is. But it seems crazy.
Twice this weekend, Signal had a bottle sometime around 11pm, and then slept through until 6:30. It was crazy! For the first time in more than 8 months, I was feeling seriously well rested. We've had nights since where he woke up once for a bottle, but it leads me to believe that there is light at the end of the infant-sleep tunnel. I am trying to be realistic, however, because several sources have indicated that it is very common for babies to have a marked sleep regression at 9 months that lasts a few weeks. Guess Ru and I should enjoy our sleep while we can.
Signal is also very, very close to cutting another tooth. His upper right tooth is almost out of the gum; you can feel a big bump right on the edge, and his gum is getting very white. While this has been disturbing his daytime sleep some, it has thankfully had little effect on his nighttime sleep. It seems that being a bit older and teething is a lot easier for Signal than teething at 4.5 months was. This time he can really hold his wooden teething ring, and he is easier to distract with toys and activities. Hopefully the easier teething trend will continue!
