That has been the refrain coming from Signal's mouth many, many time a day recently. Which is okay. I like drawing with him. He loves his wax crayons and enjoys telling me about the colour of each crayon at least as much as he likes actually using them on paper. His favourites right now are blue and purple; they feature prominently in most of his drawing these days.
Ru and I were discussing getting Signal an easel, because we think it will be a great way to focus his art in one area of our apartment, and having paper up on the easel will allow him to always have an appropriate place to colour. He really likes to "pretend" draw on the walls, and we're sure it's just a matter of time before he actually unleashes his artistic talents on the great expanses of white. We're thinking (and hoping) that if paper was always out it would diminish the likelihood of that actually happening.
In the meantime, and to see if Signal would even be interested in an easel, Ru rigged up this fantastic system. She attached his AquaDoodle Mat to our folding drying rack using some clothespins. Boy oh boy did Signal ever get a kick out of that. He has used it more than once a day every day since she got it set up. He loves it when I sit with him and draw him cats, and always wants me to write his name for him. It's too cute. I love seeing him loving art so much!
Ru is thinking that perhaps he'll be the next Jackson Pollock. Wouldn't that be nice! For now I'll be happy to proudly display his drawings on our fridge.
